I love both of the books for different reasons. J.K. Rowling has an amazing ability to create a completely different world and characters that are easy to know and easy to relate to. Also her books left you wanting more because you knew they were leading up to Voldemort.brbrAs for Stephanie Meyer...hmmm, I do think that she writes well but Im not so sure about her storytelling. Dont get me wrong, Im as obsessed with Twilight as anyone but I think the real difference is that her books describe a lot of emotion and because it is written in the first person it allows the reader to experience the emotion too. brbrHarry Potter is written in third person and while the book is exciting to read it is still being narrated to you, like watching a movie. In Harry Potter you are never a student at Hogwarts you are always the observer.brbrTwilight is different because the reader quotbecomesquot Bella and experiences all her laughter, joys, and sorrows. Therefore anything Edward says to her is written like it is being said directly to the reader. I mean really, who wouldnt want a man like Edward Cullen?brbrAlso, this just occured to me Harry Potter and company are actually living and experiencing real high school moments. Harrys first kiss, Hermiones first crush, Ron growing up and feeling awkward, etc. While Bella and Edward are in school they are extremly mature and they deal with more mature subject matter. Like making the decision to have sex or not, or really stepping back and looking at their relationship objectively and questioning whether it is right or wrong.
